  • Do you offer therapy?
    Unfortunately we are currently we are only providing assessments. We recommend you speak to your GP for information about what local psychologists may be available for therapy.
  • Do you bulk bill?
    Unfortunately we no longer bulk bill. We recommend contacting Mark Quinn for bulk billed services (Ph. 0466 382 08)
  • What is the wait time to see a psychologist?
    Due to demand, our current wait times are approximately 8 weeks for new therapy clients. This will hopefully be reduced once additional staff are engaged later in 2021.
  • Do you provide Autism and Cognitive Assessments for children?
    Yes, we can offer ASD assessment for children over 3 years, and Cognitive assessment for children 6 years and over. Please fill out the client intake form and we will contact you as soon as we can.
  • What is your waiting time for assessments?
    Testing will start immediately after we receive a 50% deposit. Face to face appointments are within 8 weeks of this. We aim to deliver reports within 4 weeks of the final face to face. If clients wish, we also help them apply for NDIS.
  • Do you provide legal reports?
    No, we do not.
  • Do you provide services for child behaviour management at home or school?
    Unfortunately we only provide services in our offices. If you are looking for support at home or school and have NDIS funding, contact the Centre for Positive Behaviour Support (Ph. 0427 295 558) or Positive Rhythms (Ph. 0418 201 486) If you do not have NDIS funding, try contacting Canberra Child Psychiatry (+02 6195 0180)
  • Do you offer discounts for people on DSP or Health Care Cards?
    Unfortunately not. For discounted services, try the ANU or UC psychology clinics or bulk billing psychologists such as Mark Quinn (Ph. 0466 382 084)
  • Are Medicare rebates available for Help Centre services?
    Yes, some rebates are available depending on the service. Assessment takes 12-14 hours. You can obtain a referral from your child’s paediatrician for rebates for 4 sessions of Autism Assessment. There are also rebates ($87-$128 rebated of the $222.50 cost) for private therapy sessions if the client has a referral on a MHCP 2700/2715/2717 - up to 20 per calendar year.
  • Are your Psychologists qualified to assess and diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder?
    Yes. Our Psychologists are fully qualified, and as well as being able to diagnose DSM-5 Disorders have extra qualifications in Autism Spectrum Diagnosis using the Gold Standard of Assessment Tests.
  • Do your Psychologists liaise with Paediatricians and Psychiatrists?
    Yes, especially when medication needs to be adjusted, and the specialists requests specific tests, our psychologists liaise closely with Paediatricians, Child Psychiatrists, and Psychiatrists.
  • Do you offer Insurance or NSW Victims Services Counselling?
    Unfortunately The Help Centre no longer has capacity to provide services for Insurance or NSW Victims Service clients. Contact your insurer or NSW Victim Service to be referred to an approved provider.
